Tandem Europe, call for applications for European cultural managers

Four Foundations, each providing about € 200,000, and a Europe-wide call for applications to promote international  collaborations involving European cultural organizations. This is Tandem Europe, an initiative developed by European Cultural Foundation (Amsterdam) and MitOst e.V. (Berlin) together with Fondazione Cariplo (Milan). It is financially supported by Robert Bosch Stiftung (Stuttgart) and Stavros Niarchos Foundation (Athens).

What is Tandem Europe?

Tandem Europe is an exchange program for European cultural managers. Partnerships of cultural managers and their respective organizations from different countries will be formed. The pairs of tandem partners will work together to deliver joint creative responses to the challenges of our time in the social and cultural spheres, and develop the capability of their organizations. Each Tandem partner will spend some time at the other partner, working on the co-development of their joint project, sharing knowledge and exchanging know-how. Tandem group meetings, network building and learning sessions will take place throughout the year of the project. At the end, there will be a final meeting where participants will share their respective experiences, and have the opportunity to join a broader partner European network. It took one year and a half to finalize the initiative, and now candidates can send their application to participate in the program.

  • Applications are to be submitted by July 12, 2015, 23:59 CET.
  • Out of the 50 cultural managers initially selected, a jury will choose the fifteen pairs with the most promising project to participate in the exchange program.
  • Placement at the partner organizations is planned to take place between March and May 2016.
  • The partner matching forum  will be held in late October at the former Ansaldo site in Milan, Italy.
