Giovanni Azzone

Giovanni Azzone has been President of Fondazione Cariplo since 2023 and also serves as President of Acri, the Association of Italian Savings Banks. He is a Professor of Business and Strategic Decisions at the Politecnico di Milano, where he also served as Rector from 2010 to 2016. Throughout his career, he has held numerous positions in academia, public institutions, and the non-profit sector.
He is President of IFOM, the research institute for molecular oncology of AIRC. Previously, he served on the boards of the Triennale di Milano and the Italian Association for Cancer Research (AIRC) and held roles for the Office of the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Economy and Finance, ISTAT, and the Lombardy Region. He also served as President of Fondazione di Comunità Milano. His research focuses on organizational analysis, management control, and reporting in both businesses and public administrations, with particular attention to sustainability. It also addresses areas relevant to the Foundation, including precision welfare and the evolution of public services in response to emerging needs, particularly those driven by demographic trends such as population aging. He has also explored the role of infrastructure in urban development, highlighting the opportunities offered by digitalization and big data.
