Ager is an initiative focused on scientific research in the agri-food sector. It is a joint effort of a number of Foundations, 13 so far, that have pooled together their resources to fund research in the fruits & vegetables, cereal crops, grape-growing & wine-making, and animal husbandry segments. Given the importance of the agri-food sector for the economy, the worldwide reputation of Italian food and the increasing need for research and innovation to secure food safety and environmental sustainability, a partnership effort is the most appropriate to the challenges at hand.
