fUNDER35 – funds for cultural undertakings formed by young people - is a project geared to help cultural undertakings started by young people gain management and production skills in order to improve their efficiency, sustainability and market positioning. The brain child of Acri’s Committee for arts & culture, this is a pilot project supported by as many as 10 Italian foundations, namely Fondazione Cariplo as the lead organization, Fondazione Banco di Sardegna, Fondazione Cariparma, Fondazione Livorno, Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio della Spezia, Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Lucca, Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Modena, Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Padova e Rovigo, Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Torino and Fondazione del Monte di Bologna e Ravenna. The difficulties encountered by cultural undertakings started by young people that are now struggling even more due to the current budget cuts, and younger generations generally not participating much in cultural events were the reasons that drove these foundations to support the project.
The Foundations launched the fUNDER35 project to strengthen the best cultural undertakings started by young people and give them greater stability. The Foundations believe that if strengthened in their management and operations, and by leveraging innovative quality programs, these undertakings may more easily secure their position in the market (and also, more easily connect to their young target audience).
HOW THE PROJECT IS IMPLEMENTED
• Calls for proposals. For three years there will be an annual call for proposal soliciting submissions from nonprofit private entities that are registered and have been operating in the Foundations’ constituencies for at least two years
• Support. The undertakings selected as grantees receive support and their operations are regularly monitored to boost their organization, management and innovation ability and help them improve.
• Advice. The undertakings selected as grantees receive advice on tax, administration, fundraising domestically and internationally, that helps them optimize use of their resources.
• Communication. Communication campaigns are underway to adequately promote nation-wide all initiatives funded under this project.
