Analysis of Trends

The ‘Analysis of Trends’ Function captures and analyzes emerging needs or developments in the Foundation’s program areas in order to find out opportunities for action. Thus, it pursues a two-pronged goal: identify needs and provide stimuli.

This function fulfils its duties primarily via seminars , either on a specific issue or across disciplines. The seminars are held by speakers selected among specialists who have both the knowledge and the practical experience of specific emerging issues, including the role of players, existing polices and related trends. In addition to describing the trends in a given area, speakers are invited to discuss the role Fondazione Cariplo could play in the specific fields in accordance with its mission.

Each 3-hour seminar includes the presentations of the various speakers and a debate at the end of the session. The speakers are invited to provide reference materials beforehand so that participants can properly prepare on the topic before the seminar.

To avoid any overlaps with the meetings of the Subcommittees as well as any interference with their independence, participation of Foundation’s staff is carefully planned and varies in accordance with the topic of the seminar. This means seminars are attended by all members of the Osservatorio plus the members of the specific subcommittee that is competent on the issue.
