Bridging the North/South gap - AP 10

"Filling the development gap between the North and the South of the World"

International development aid is increasingly seen as a process geared to strengthen local communities and make them independent rather than the sheer provision of economic and humanitarian aid.  To attain true development, economic growth and improved living standards need to go hand in hand with respect for the environment. This is the only way to ensure long-term sustainable development.

In the past few years new players have joined in international development programs and local organizations have seen their role growing in importance. Financial support to such decentralized development actions that leverage the alliance of different players has been dwindling recently. Fondazione Cariplo can give a valuable contribution through its support to those efforts.

GOALS

With Action Plan 10 the Foundation strives to foster development of emerging economies through the involvement of local communities in the foreign countries and in Italy, taking an approach that combines development of civil society, environmental sustainability and economic growth.
