New funds for ERC grants

Good news for those who aspire to receive an ERC starting grant, i.e. a grant given by the European Research Council to support promising post docs who are about to start a research team and conduct independent research in Europe. For the June 2014 call jointly issued by Fondazione Cariplo and the Lombardy Regional Administration (the “Joint Call”) – (for more information click here – ‘calls for proposals  - research’) as part of their broader collaboration to boost the attractiveness of the regional research system, the Lombardy Regional Administration has increased funds by € 140.000. Organized into three specific lines - for those who already work and for those who are willing to work under an ERC grant - the joint call can currently count on a total budget of € 2.698.839 (line A: € 1.200,000; line B: € 1.034,692; line C: € 464.147).

The additional funds provided by the Lombardy Regional Administration are for Line C, i.e. to be used to fund coaching of young investigators who can prove their potential to conduct independent research and are willing to apply for the first time for an ERC starting grant. The day after the initial resolutions were passed, the Lombardy Regional Administration had already allocated an extra sum of € 307.725 to these activities.

The “Joint Call” is for projects in the macro areas of the ERC grants: Physical Sciences and Engineering, Life Sciences, Social Sciences and Humanities.

The deadline for submitting applications is November 21, 2015 (12:00 pm - noon).
