Ager 2: over €7 million to agro-food projects

€7,220,000 is the sum Fondazione Cariplo and the other foundations that are its partners in Project Ager have earmarked to reinforce and confirm Italian leadership and excellence in agriculture and food.

These funds will be given to projects in four segments: aquaculture, mountain farming, olive trees & oil, and dairy products. These will add to the sixteen projects in the field of cereal crops, fruits & vegetables, grape-growing & wine-making, and animal husbandry, already supported through Ager in prior years with some €27 million. The earmarked funds will be given to projects selected under relevant calls for projects to be issued at the beginning of the summer.

For this second edition of Ager, the foundations that are partners in this project have decided to give preference to research projects focused on food security and environmental sustainability. Priority will be given to projects with the potential for technology transfer to the business sector as well as capable of yielding benefits for society as a whole. The ten Italian Banking Foundations engaged in Ager 2 are geographically distributed across the country and are: Fondazione Cariplo, the foundations of Padua & Rovigo, Cuneo, Modena, Parma, Udine & Pordenone, Sardinia, Bolzano, Teramo and Fondazione con il Sud (Foundation for the South).
